"And Behold, a pale horse whose rider was Death"

It is obvious to many people that Bible prophecies are being fulfilled in rapid succession these days, and discerning Believers are receiving increased warnings of coming Events. Volcanoes and earthquakes are dramatically increasing yet not even being reported by mainstream media, while ‘rumors of wars’ abound. At this writing Hezbollah in Lebanon reports they have 40,000 rockets pointed at Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.

And then, there’s that pale horse on Youtube, filmed at the Egyptian riots. Some people are in fear, many scoff. What does Revelation say about the pale horse? “ And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hell followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.” It’s obvious that the pale horse would not bring tidings of great joy. He is given Authority 1. to kill with the sword”. Is this an all-out war, or perhaps even genocide? Some cultures today like to dispatch people by beheading them. It is not clear what ‘kill by the sword’ may mean. The pale horse will also bring 2. ‘Famine’, which is pretty self-explanatory. Already we see reports that the world’s food supply is in jeopardy and some countries are experiencing food riots. In an interview concerning the economy a couple of weeks ago Donald Trump, a successful businessman, said he believed Americans would soon be paying $25 for a loaf of bread. This, indeed, would fulfill a prophecy: Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages…" (Rev. 6:6) The Pale Horse is also followed by 3. pestilence. The word Pestilence indicates an epidemic of a fatal infectious disease that will be devastating and highly contagious. The last thing the Pale Horse points to is that people will be 4. killed by wild animals. Could this be due to the disappearance of the animals’ food supply – perhaps resulting from natural disasters - , so that humans become their food source?

No matter what we believe about the Pale Horse supposedly filmed in Egypt, The Day of the Lord is coming -- A lot faster than some people would like. The most important thing to do in anticipation of that Event is to study the Word of God and live the commandments. In the Hebrew mindset, the highest form of worship is to study God's Word. Studying and praying helps us to cope with our changing world in a Biblically-based way and keeps us in touch with God, Who will give us increased wisdom. It’s a good idea to ask God for a discerning spirit so that we will not be deceived. “ If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5) And I submit that we should rejoice that the Prophetic time is at hand. Each day we draw closer to the Day of the Lord than we have ever been. We have been blessed to live in this time and this season.
